We are very fortunate at our school to have a PTFA who have been an integral part of the school community for many years. In its time the PTFA has raised many thousands of pounds, which have been spent on equipment and resources to enhance our children’s educational experience.
All our families are automatically members of Market Drayton Junior’s PTFA when their child joins the school. All parents and members of the school community are encouraged to become involved, even if they only have a small amount of time available.
The PTFA exists to provide closer links between home and school; it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school. Not all our events are run as fundraisers, some are held with the aim of having fun and as a way of thanking families for their continued support for the PTFA.
Our Mission Statement
To advance the education of the pupils in the school by developing more extended relationships between staff, parents and others associated with the school, by engaging in activities which support the school. Providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at the school (not normally provided by the Department for Education).
In the past we have contributed to the Trim Trail and Tyre Park on the field, bought wet play games for all classes and a digital recorder and class set of ukuleles for the children. We also bought Jubilee mugs for all the staff and children and chocolate medals for the School Olympic Sports day.
We played a big role in the Centenary celebrations and purchased a teddy bear memento for all the members of our school community.
All this would not be possible without the wonderful support of the parents.
Activities & Events
Our current PTFA formed are very active, raising valuable funds for our school, through the following activities:
- Bags to School
Bags2School clothing and bric-a-brac collections are held periodically, to raise additional funds for the school. - Bauble Decorating Competition
Held every December, a popular activity with the children for getting into the festive spirit and showing off their creative skills. The decorated baubles are always displayed on a special tree in our reception area, for all visitors to the school to enjoy in the run up to the holidays! - Christmas Bingo
Our Christmas Bingo evenings are always a popular fundraiser, with selection boxes and a variety of other non-monetary prizes on offer! - School Discos
Normally held twice per year, one for lower school (Y3/4) and one for upper school (Y5/6).
Since its formation the PTFA has used its funds to…
- Supply Christmas crackers for the children’s Christmas lunch
- Purchase costumes/materials for the Christmas production
- Support the Year 6 Leavers’ trip in the summer term
- Subsidise other year group trips throughout the year
- Commemorative pens as a keepsake for the Year 6 children when they leave the school
- Purchased two new outdoor benches for the children to use during play and lunch times
- Purchased some portable goals for the children to use at playtimes
If you have any suggestions for fundraising activities or for how funds could be put to use or even just to offer your help at any PTA events, please contact the school via e-mail. Thanks for your support!
